NEXT GROUCHO: August 2 at The Gowlett, in Gowlett Road off East Dulwich Road. There are tables on the pavement outside, and also in the yard at the back. Pizzas here are okay, but they take only cash.

This date as been moved from Monday, August 1, so Grouchos could catch Renato d'Aiello at Ronnie Scott's. He is also playing at the Plough, Lordship Lane, on Saturday, July 30, from 8.30. Free entry.

• Evadne Rickets will not, alas, be coming along. It;s the opening night of A Lady of Pleasure, a Restoration play in which she is performing at the White Bear Theatre in Kennington. It runs till August 23.

• Dulwich Picture Galley has a Fifties night, showing Grease on the big screen, on Bank Holiday Monday.
