Things to do in the last days of June


Thur June 21: The Longest Day With typical Groucho spirit of occasion,  we picnicked in the drizzly cold of Peckham Common until fading light, lowering temperature and rising wind drove us to the snug embrace of the Clockhouse.

Sat June 23Psycholiogical Art Circus -- free event on Peckahm Rye Common, 9.30pm

Tues, June 26, Private view of Project 2012 End of the World Exhibition, with works by Chris Clack among others, at the Arbeit Gallery, 4 Helmet Row, EC1V 3JQ, 6–9pm, and continuing 11am–6pm till Saturday.

Thurs June 28: Archival exhibition Better Books: Art, Anarchy and Apostasy at Flat Time House, Bellenden Road. Tues-Sun, till July 29.

Fri June 29: Grouchos are invited to the opening party of the Cabaret Mechanical Theatre, late of Covent Garden, now starting a summer season at 65 North Cross Road, from 7p,

Sat June 30, Bold Tendencies opens for the season in Peckham car park roof. The sculpture exhibition is backed up with a live programme of music, dance, theatre, film and literary events. all free. Frank's Cafe will be there, too. It will be open Thursday to Sundays, 11am–10pm.
Plus: Renato d'Aiello's Regular last-Saturday-of-the-month gig at The Clockhouse.

July 4–2 The Royal Court in Peckham, at the Bussey building, is running two plays, Belong (until June 23) and Vera Vera (July 4–2). See trailers.

The CLF Art Cafe in the Bussey bulding, venue for these plays, is also hosting some free music events to celebrate its 5th anniversary. See CLF Art Cafe website


Sun July 15 Woody Allen at Peckhamplex – At 3pm Woody Allen: a Documentary (the shorter version, 114 minutes), followed at 5.15 by Annie Hall (93 minutes). £4.99 for each film, £6 for both if booked at the same time.

Looking ahead:
Aug 2-4: Exhibition in the Old Waiting Room, Peckham Rye station, as Peckham Rye Lane's contribution to the Cultural Olympiad. Volunteers wanted. See Peckham Vision website.

Jazz and Poetry with saxophonist Renato d'Aiello and US poet Adam Garrie, Aug 18, then the first Thursday of each month, upstairs at the EDT.
